The Smart Eater’s Guide

1. Bake, roast, boil or steam your foods. Avoid frying & fats!

2. Trim all fat and skin from meat, poultry and fish.

3. Eat meatless entrees several times a week: pasta, rice, vegetables, etc.

4. Use low or non-fat dairy products.

5. Eat 1-2 servings of whole grain cereals and grains per
day (avoid white flour and white sugar).

6. Limit yourself to no more than 5 eggs per week.

7. Eat 2-5 servings of fresh fruits and vegetables per day.

8. Use olive, safflower or coconut oil instead of palm or
cottonseed oils when cooking.

9. Rinse canned vegetables to reduce sodium intake.

10. Chill soups and stews after cooking them to remove hardened fat from the top.

Becoming a “heart healthy” eater may add years to your life and increase your energy and vitality!
