Tired of Wobbly Ladders? Make Gutter Cleaning Easier

Ladder's Little Helper
We love trees. But we hate when they lose their leaves and we (or our sweeties) have to climb up a wobbly ladder and clean them out of the gutters.
That’s why we’re excited about a new product that makes ladders much more stable. Simply insert a pole into the bottom of Ladder’s Little Helper, place it on your gutter, and lean your ladder against it. Anti-slip rubber on the product’s underside keeps the ladder from moving around when you’re standing on it—you’ll feel a lot more stable and secure when you’re up on the ladder scooping slimy leaves out of the gutter.
The device is designed to fit most gutters and ladders, and also protects them from scratches and dents.

Put an End to Messy Soil Spills

Banana SealAdmit it—you’ve tried everything from clothes pins to bungee cords to secure those big bags of soil, compost, mulch, and other gardening supplies and keep them from spilling onto your garage floor, right? What a mess!
Enter Banana Seal from Seal-a-Bag. All you do is peel the product apart like a banana and press the pieces back together across an open bag to create an airtight seal. How’s that for tidy?
The reusable seal comes in three convenient sizes, so they’ll fit just about any standard-size bag. If you need to, you can cut the large seal into the size you need to keep things like grass seed, bird food, fertilizer, and other easy-to-spill products closed.

How to Plant a Tribute Garden

Pink Ribbon samplerWhen you’re planning which bulbs to plant this fall, why not set aside part of your garden as a beautiful tribute to the women in your life who have been affected by breast cancer?
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and you can show your support for cancer research with the Pink Ribbon sampler from Old House Gardens.
The sampler came about as a tribute to the company’s shipping manager, Kelly, who was diagnosed with breast cancer last year. To celebrate Kelly’s positive prognosis after months of chemo and radiation, Old House Gardens will donate $3 from each sampler sale to the Livestrong Foundation.
This fall, honor your mom, daughter, sister, or friend by planting these hardy bulbs—and next spring, watch your garden turn into a pink tribute.
