A New Show – Legend of the Seeker

by on January 1, 2011

For years I have been a big fan of Terry Goodkind’s ‘Sword of Truth’ series. There were 13 books in all. Each one was gritty, hard-hitting and very engaging. Honestly, I was devastated when the series ended.

A few weeks ago my husband told me that he had a surprise for me and that wouldn’t believe it. A few nights later we finally sat down to enjoy this ‘unbelievable’ find. I was surprised and delighted. Indeed, ‘Legend of the Seeker’ brings the legend of Richard Cypher and Kahlan Amnell to life. Craig Horner stars as Richard Cypher and Bridget Regan stars as Kahlan Amnell. The crafty first Wizard, Zeddicus Zu’l Zorander is played by Bruce Spence.

Now, mind you, it does not follow the books to the letter but all the main characters which we have come to know and love are present and accounted for quite well. To you right you see a picture of Kahlan and Richard, the two main characters from the books.

If you are like me, this book will bring those characters very much to life. I think we just finished episode 9 and they are actually getting better. Perhaps because I am getting used to the changes between the show and the book or maybe the affinity I feel for the characters is growing. Whatever the case may be, I am happy to report that my husband and I are both thoroughly entertained by the story and look forward to watching a new episode every night.

We are getting a new DVD from Net FlicksĀ  every few days which features 4 or 5 episodes per disk. We enjoy an episode every night. From what I understand there were 2 season and there were 22 shows per season so we have a long ways to go. I think this is the only was this series could be brought to the screen. Trying to do it as a feature length film would have been impossible.

So,if you are like me and loved the books I highly recommend that you check out this series on DVD. I think you will be glad you did!
